Using genomic and transcriptomic data from 38 species of ladybird beetles, we identified a couple of bacterial cell wall hydrolase (cwh) genetics obtained by this number of beetles. Disease with Bacillus subtilis generated upregulated phrase of these ladybird cwh genes, and their recombinantly released proteins limited bacterial proliferation.
